I've been watching some of the videos from The National Equality March and feeling so moved. Hopeful and yet sad that it is still taking so long for Gay people to receive their rights.
As a 60+ year old man living with AIDS I have to wonder if I will live long enough to see the day when we will receive the respect we deserve as human beings in this land of America.
Not that my life will be changed so much on the outside. I have a roof over my head, can't be fired from my job, too old to join the military, and no prospects in sight, right now, for marriage. But perhaps knowing I have equal protection under the law and the same rights as any other person in this country, will help to heal some of the wounds of living with hatred and fear from an early age. Perhaps....
